Today I spent an afternoon in a YouTube chat with an incredible creator that I adore. An important talk with amazing, caring and supportive people that have their stories and are willing to share them.
I have spent plenty of hours (Yes! Literally hours!!👀) in these chats with this favorite creator and the amazing following she has managed to acquire.
As per my last Blog, which focuses on the dark side of YouTube, this Blog will focus on the bright side of YouTube.
There are several channels that lately have joined the world of uploading videos to an audience that is captivated by their content.
One channel that is run by an "anonymous" creator has become a favorite of many for the complete transparency (except her true identity) and facts she puts put. The truth she brings, the love she shares and that you can see that she actually CARES about others. There is absolutely no NONSENSE!
Today's chat was touching, inspiring. It felt safe. This creator and the unbelievable "friends" (subs) that come to share, talk, support, love, and give advice to what are pretty much strangers are some of the sweetest people. Oh sure, we definitely get to know certain subs that are frequent flyers amongst the YouTube Chat World but everyone is behind a screen. We don't really know them or their life. We don't know what they go through or what they don't.
Today this creator took time from her day to just sit with her subs and talk about whatever they wanted to talk about when it came to our Mental Health. No judgment, no shaming, no bullshit. She listened, she shared. She wanted to help.
This won't be a long blog (maybe😉) but perhaps an important one. It is a FACT that we can't read people's souls. We don't know what someone else goes through, or has gone through in life they may be battling.
I haven't met one single person in my life that hasn't suffered some kind of trauma throughout their lives. Some kind of hate, bullying, racism, body shaming, sexual assault or domestic violence to name a few of life's hardships.
The girl at school that is shy and maybe doesn't have many friends. Perhaps she gets bullied for sitting alone most of the time. She doesn't talk much I bet.
Perhaps she is the girl that is being sexually abused at home. She is the girl that wants to talk but is scared to use her voice and tell someone her whispers
That boy that pushes the girls and bullies the kids on the school yard. Perhaps he says mean things and sometimes hits. He's aggressive and eveyone knows him. Not many like him.
Perhaps he is the boy that goes home to be beaten by someone that is supposed to love him. He is told he is a piece of shit. He hears the hatred directed at him. He keeps his whispers to himself
The lady working next to you that doesn't interact. She avoids the lunch room. She walks with her head down. Perhaps she seems snobby.
Perhaps this quiet lady goes home to fists. She is told she is useless, ugly, fat. She is constantly berated and hiding her bruises. Her whispers are threatened if they are spoken
You don't know.
We as humans thrive on love, acceptance, satisfaction, kindness..
We make choices daily. Sometimes we cant choose our mood, like come on now, that shit just pops up out of nowhere sometimes. We can choose how we treat others. We can choose to listen. We can choose to understand. We can choose to accept.
Everybody lives behind closed doors. Don't assume you know what happens behind them.
When someone does something kind for you like pay for your coffee in the drive thru, or offer you a ride, sends you a gift, or simply holds a door open for you, it feels good. Your day seems brighter even on the darkest ones.
Always remember those magical moments.
I'll always remember that chat
