Little Stephanie Hebert. And Jason.
Stephanie was a bright, healthy and a typical energetic 5 year old little girl. She lived on Aster Lane in Wagaman Louisiana. Her parents were Joyce & Donald Hebert.
On June 13th 1978, little Stephanie with her little blond ponytails and bright blue glasses, left her home to walk over to a friends house down the street. She was excited to play with her best friend Dawn.
She never made it.
Authorities were immediately contacted and an extensive search was conducted for little Stephanie. For months, volunteers, police, neighbors kept the search going for Stephanie.
More than 150 deputies, reserve officers, firefighters and residents searched the Live Oak-Floral Acres subdivision, but no one could find the little girl

Jason Franklin Jr. (JAY) was a young boy that lived just down the street from the Hebert's home. He lived with his father and step mother.
Jay didn't have a safe & happy home. He was repeatedly r*ped by his father during his young life. He was witness to his father abusing other children as well. He was beaten, abused and used.. threatened so he wouldn't tell.
Jay was terrified of his Father who was large and loud. He had formed Jay into a scared little boy that was tortured brutally regularly his father.
One Fateful day, Jason SR, told Jay to coax little Stephanie into his car whom they saw walking doan the street. Jay knew his father would take and sexually abuse Stephanie. He was so little and so scared. Jay knew it was wrong but, out of pure fear, Jay did what his father told him to.
Jay wouldn't speak of Stephanie again, until he did.

November 24th, 1978, 5 months after Stephanie disappeared, she was found by a hunter in dense, swampy, wooded area in St. Charles Perish.
A rope was wrapped around her skeletal remains where she’d been tied to a tree. Her glasses, shoes and clothing were found nearby. Her underwear were not found.
Her case went cold...

In 2018, Sheriff's Office cold case detectives reopened the investigation into Hebert's death, according to court records. While looking into the case, Jason Franklin Sr. was identified as a suspect in Stephanie's rape and homicide as well as the sexual assaults of two other children, according to authorities.
Jason Franklin Sr., A former U.S. Army veteran and truck driver had been convicted of attempted rape in 1966, according to authorities. Unbeknownst to the Heberts, Jason Franklin was living on Aster Lane in the late 1970s, just eight houses away.
He was convicted of child pornography possession in 2011, accused of taking lewd photographs of a 9-year-old boy, according to criminal records.
Finally, over 40 years after Stephanie disappeared, Jay decided he needed to release the secret he's held all these years. He spoke with Law Enforcement.
Authorities were taken back when they heard the story that Jay had to tell. He told them about the abuse he had endured by his father. The nights of terror he lived. The other children's abuse he was witness to. The day he was forced to kidnap Stephanie Hebert with his father, Jason Sr.
Police immediately investigated Jason Franklin Sr again in connection to the little girls murder case, which has haunted the community and those disturbed by the brutal scene of the little five-year-old possibly left to die alone in the woods. They were able to make the connection.
In December of 2018: Jason Franklin Sr. of Massachusetts was charged with aggravated rape of three children, including Stephanie Hebert, and named a suspect in the child’s kidnapping and murder. He would eventually being charged with Stephanie's murder.
The incidents occurred between Sept. 12, 1975 and Sept. 8, 1977. The victims would have been between the ages of 3 to 7 years old. One which was his own son.
Franklin was being held Friday at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna in lieu of a $6 million bond. He was supposed to return to court July 1, 2019 for a status hearing.
Unfortunately, this sick Fuck died in prison before he could be taken to trial for his horrendous crimes.
Sadly, Jason (Jay) Jr was killed by a drunk driver shortly after speaking about his father.
